ABOUT
The wine came first.
I planted Shiraz in Pokolbin in 2000. Not as an investor, not as a lifestyle decision — I planted it because by then the Hunter Valley had already decided something about me, and it seemed only right to put something in the ground.
Thirty years in wine will do that. It gets inside you. Not just the tasting, the chemistry, the vocabulary — but the deeper thing wine keeps pointing at. Place. Memory. The way a single glass can collapse the distance between where you are and where something happened.
That’s the idea at the heart of the Quantum Wine series. What if wine didn’t just reflect terroir — what if it actually held it?
THE WORK
I’ve spent my career across fine wine retail, cellar door, wine education, and direct-to-consumer sales. I hold CIVC Champagne Professional certification and have completed WSET Diploma-level study.
Since 2020 I’ve been building Fat Cork, an online Champagne retailer. I also run The Vintry and three Tiny House short-stays in Pokolbin.
But the writing was always there underneath it all. The Quantum Wine trilogy is where it finally came out.

THE PLACE
“I live and work in Pokolbin, in the Lower Hunter Valley — Wonnarua Country. I’ve been here long enough to know what the valley smells like before rain.”
This place made me a wine person. It also made me a writer. I’m not sure you can separate the two.
